Luvs.com

Hi, I'm Marissa Jaret Winokur, and I'm so excited to welcome you to the Luvs community of moms who are taking a stand against paying too much on everyday items like diapers.

You know, being a mom has absolutely changed my life... for the best. I've never felt anything like the love I feel for my son, Zev. But I tell you, motherhood really puts things into perspective, and it makes you reevaluate your priorities, because our plate is so full with juggling our schedules and the house, and, dare I say it, having time for ourselves.

That's why I love Luvs. It's a great diaper that offers ultra leak protection, and it costs less than the pricey brands. In fact, the folks at Luvs are so confident that you'll love their product, that they even offer a money back guarantee!

Now, go have some fun building your baby avatar. They're so cute. I absolutely LUV mine!

Giving

Hi, I'm Marissa Jaret Winokur. Most people know me for my role as Tracy Turnblad in the Broadway production of Hairspray or as a semifinalist in Dancing With the Stars, but what you may not know is that I'm a cancer survivor, too.

When you're faced with such intense, life-altering challenges as a young adult, it really humbles you as a person. For a million reasons, I stand here today so blessed. Blessed that I beat cancer. Blessed with a really fun career. And, most importantly, through the wonders of modern medicine, my husband and I are blessed with our son, Zev.

That's why it means so much to me to lead the Take a Stand movement for Luvs. It's all about empowering women to unite and take a stand on issues that are important to them—no matter what they are, big or small.

For me, I stand for giving back. Whether through volunteering in the community or fund-raising for my favorite charity, no act is too small. It's just a part of who I am... my small way of paying forward for all the blessings I've received in life. What do you stand for? Tell us. We'd love to hear.

Intuition

Hi, I'm Marissa Jaret Winokur, and I am a self-proclaimed research freak. It's true. I research everything online before going shopping. And don't get me started on all the books I read, and websites I visited when we were preparing for the birth of our son, Zev.

But as I grow into mommyhood, I'm quickly learning to rely more on my instincts and less on the mass information out there. It's overwhelming! And worse, totally contradicting! Like how some experts say that your kids shouldn't view any screen media before the age of 2. And in another article I read, it's totally OK for my son to watch age-appropriate TV, just no more than 20 minutes.

Huh? I'm in the entertainment business, people! Zev is allowed to watch TV, because I say it's OK!

I used to let this type of thing stress me out, but not anymore. Along the way I've learned to accept one truth: There are no hard-and-fast answers to anything. It's all subjective.

So moms, keep doing all your research, because it does help us make educated choices. But at the end of the day, I stand for just trusting your gut. Because nothing competes with a mother's intuition when it comes to her child.

If you have any funny "trust your gut" stories of your own, we would love to hear them.

Mom Plus

Hi, I'm Marissa Jaret Winokur. I love being a mom more than anything! Of all the roles I've played throughout my career, the "real life" mom role is by far my favorite character.

In fact, becoming a mom has totally redefined my life in general because the job is always there—no matter what time of day or what day of the week, no matter what project I'm working on, or how I organize my schedule. I look at everything through the "mom" perspective now.

I love being a mom so much that it's easy to get totally caught up in that role. But there's more to me than that one dimension, and I need to constantly remind myself about that—to not get so caught up in being a mom that I lose sight of all the things that make me Marissa.

Like my love and dedication to the performing arts. Or my commitment to always trying to lead the healthiest lifestyle possible. These things totally made me the person I am today. Made me the mom I am today. So I work really hard to try to strike that balance.

I know the balancing act can be difficult, but I'm sure you've learned a trick or two along the way. We would love to hear your stories. Please share with us.

Parenting Fun

Hi, I'm Marissa Jaret Winokur, and I love being a mom for a million reasons, but I have to admit that my favorite part is that I get to act like a kid again. I have playtime back in my life.

I mean, seriously, before you had kids, when was the last time you played on the swings? Or played hide-and-seek? Or read a book out loud? I'm pretty sure I let all that go in grade school. Trading all my childhood fun for "grown-up" pastimes like shopping, talking on the phone, boys.

But now here I am, back in that place again where all I do is play with my son. And we laugh, and we sing, and we listen to music, and we go swimming together. I'm not gonna lie. I absolutely love it. And this is so much more rewarding than dating ever was.

Sure, being a mom comes with its share of stresses, too. But at the end of the day, nothing makes me happier than to hear Zev belly laugh—totally delighted in the most innocent game of peekaboo. It absolutely melts my heart, and it just makes everything worth it.

Have the kids given you a good belly laugh lately? Please share! We love a good story.

Savvy Shopping

Hi, I'm Marissa Jaret Winokur. You know, so much of who we are as adults comes from lessons learned in childhood. Think about it... good manners, social graces, financial responsibilities. That subject was hugely important in my home. My parents constantly drilled into us the importance of respecting money. And that the more you keep in your pocket, the better.

That philosophy has stuck with me to this day, because it just makes good sense. So, I've always considered shopping something of a game that I want to win. How can I find all the things I need and want, at the best possible prices, without sacrificing quality? How do I outsmart the system?

Take Luvs, for example. You know how many diapers we go through in a week... it's crazy. But with Luvs, I know I'm getting a great diaper that offers the premium features of the pricey diapers, but it costs less. So my conscience is clear, and I feel good knowing that I'm getting the biggest bang for my buck.

Don't get me wrong, I'll spend money on things when I need to. But I won't spend too much on everyday items, not when there are so many simple money-saving options out there.

I definitely stand for passing along savvy shopping tips to other moms. Do you have any of your own to share? Tell us at Luvs.com.

Punches

Hi, I'm Marissa Jaret Winokur. Since becoming a mom, I'm slowly evolving into a master at operating in controlled chaos!

Don't get me wrong. I love my son, Zev, and he is by far the greatest joy of my life, but motherhood is equally the greatest responsibility—and commitment—of my life.

And that's just one slice of me. I also need to fit in my work schedule, grocery shopping, keeping my house organized, keeping my husband organized, and all my volunteer commitments... just trying to exercise... the list goes on.

But, you know what I'm learning along the way? To pick my battles. And to always make time to meditate. I mean, even just for one minute. I just take a few deep breaths and let it go, because there's no way I can possibly stay ahead of the curve. I just roll with the punches.

What "magic" do you perform each day to keep it all together? I'm always looking for great advice. Please share yours with us at Luvs.com.
